K-State Tied for 11th After Day One in Alabama
Oct 25, 2025 | Men's Golf
LOXLEY, Ala. – The Kansas State men's golf team has work to do in the final round as the Wildcats are tied for 11th place at 5-over par Saturday's play at the Steelwood Collegiate at the par-72, 7,096-yard Steelwood Country Club.
Â
The teams played their usual 36 holes on Saturday but went four or five holes into the final round on the first day due to expected inclement weather on Sunday. K-State recorded a first-round score of 3-over par 291 and a 5-over par 293 second round, while the Wildcats are currently at 3-under par in the final round.
Â
"It was a frustrating day," head coach Grant Robbins said. "We did a lot of good things. We played the par 3s really well, which is one of the keys to this course, and we made a ton of birdies. The problem was we just made way too many mistakes, and I thought there were several times we just lost focus and couldn't get any momentum. However, we did get off to a good start in round three. We just need to play smart and understand that it doesn't have to be perfect – just keep the ball in play and avoid short-side misses. If we do that and put together five solid scores, we will be in good shape."
Â
Kansas State is currently led by senior Alex Lindstrom, who is tied for 20th place at 1-under par. The Halmstad, Sweden, native bounced back with a 4-over par first round with a bogey-free second-round score of 4-under par 68, recording two birdies on each side of the course. He also birdied his second hole of round three as he is through five final-round holes.
Two shots back and tied for 32nd place is sophomore Fionn Dobbin. He produced his third under-par round of the year in the morning with a score of 1-under par 71, and he is currently 2-under par through four holes in the final round.
Â
Freshman Oliver Toyer is tied for 40th place at 3-over par, which included an even-par first round. Another freshman, Ville Virkkala, is tied for 54th place at 5-over par, while senior Shea Harmeson rounds out the scoring lineup in 73rd place at 12-over par. Playing as an individual, sophomore Tyler Strong carded an even-par first round but is tied for 70th place at 10-over par.
Â
No. 35 West Virginia holds a one-shot lead over Rutgers at 12-under par. Memphis' Yixiang Wang is the individual leader at 9-under par.
Â
Final-round play is set to resume at 8 a.m., on Sunday morning. Live results can be followed on SCOREBOARD powered by Clippd.
