Four Wildcats Wrap Up Competition in Cyclone Invitational

Junior Margaret Jaraczewski went unbeaten in singles play
AMES, Iowa- The K-State women's tennis team had four women finish three days of competition on Sunday (October 5) in the Cyclone Invitational at the Forker Tennis Courts. Competing against Iowa State, Iowa and Minnesota, all three days featured up to two doubles matches and a singles match each for the women.
Junior Margaret Jarazcewski went unbeaten in singles play all three days, all three matches going into three sets. In her first match on Friday against Iowa's Eline Bex she left them scoreless to start before splitting the final two sets in a similar fashion, 6-0, 5-7, 7-5. During her match on Saturday against Sofia Pinto from Minnesota she came out on top in high scoring first and third sets at 7-5, 2-6, 7-5.
Freshman Diana Smolinska was successful in two of her singles matches, also encountering three sets on the final day. Facing the Cyclones' Gabriella Kellner on Sunday, she dropped the second set but came back in the deciding tiebreaker for the win at 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5). She was successful in straight sets on Friday against Sally Xu from Iowa, 6-2, 6-2.
Jaraczewski and Smolinska partnered up for doubles play, battling all three days but ultimately falling short in eight-game pro sets. Their closest match came on Friday while facing the Hawkeyes' Xu and Bex where they advanced to a 10-point tiebreaker where they came up just short at 7-8 (8-10).
Freshman sister Addison Renfro and Mallory Renfro competed together in doubles matches for a consecutive weekend.
Selected K-State women will compete in two weeks on October 16-20 in the ITA Central Regional Championship in Norman, Okla., at Headington Family Tennis Center.
