K-State Meets UCF, No. 21 Iowa State to Close Big 12 Slate

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State hosts UCF Wednesday night in its final regular-season home match at Morgan Family Arena before closing out the regular season Saturday at No. 21 Iowa State.

A post-match ceremony honoring the Wildcats' (16-8, 9-7 Big 12) five-member senior class will immediately follow the match with the Knights (16-11, 7-9 Big 12), which is slated for a 6:30 p.m. CT first serve. Saturday's match is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum.

K-State will honor four graduating seniors in Ava LeGrand, Shaylee Myers, Brenna Schmidt and Jordyn Williams, along with redshirt-junior Aniya Clinton.

The Wildcats are seeking an at-large bid to the 2025 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship, as they enter the final week with an RPI of 32 and tied sixth in the conference standings. The Big 12 – the nation's top conference in RPI – has 11 teams inside the top 50 in RPI, including Iowa State (22-5, 11-5 Big 12) at No. 20.

WHAT's ON THE LINE…

A win Wednesday would hand the Cats' their 17^th win of the season, marking the most wins in a single-season under Mansfield.
A win on Saturday would tie the program record for Top 25 wins in a single-season, tying the 2023 squad.
It would also mark the seventh consecutive victory over Iowa State – the team's second longest winning streak in the series history.
If the Cats defeat UCF, it would tie the most conference wins under Mansfield.
Two wins this week would mark the first season with 11 or more conference wins since 2008, when the Wildcats finished third in the league with a record of 14-6.

SCOUTING UCF

UCF (16-11, 7-9 Big 12) is coming off a three-set loss to No. 9 Arizona State, the Big 12 regular-season champion, at home last week.
The Knights, who are in their first season under head coach Matt Botsford, enter the week with an RPI of 62 and look to stay within the league's top-10 of the conference standings.
UCF has gone 3-2 over its last five matches.
The Knights offense is led by Avah Armour with her 4.38 kills per set.
Skylar English (2.58 kills/set) and Sasha Cohen (1.92 kills/set) rank second and third on the team, respectively. English leads the conference with 63 service aces.
Amour was tabbed Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week (Oct. 28) while teammates Reaghan Thomas (Sept. 23) and Alexa Haley (Nov. 11) have each earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Thompson averages one block per set, which ranks 16^th in the conference.
The Knights are third in the league in opponent hitting percentage, limiting team's to a .180 efficiency.

SCOUTING #21 IOWA STATE

Iowa State (22-5, 12-4 Big 12), which ranks No. 21 in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll, enters the week ranked second to Arizona State – the Big 12 regular season champion – in the league standings.
The Cyclones have won eight of their last 10 matches, including a current four-match winning streak.
Iowa State is 13-5 overall on the road this season with a 9-5 record as a true visiting team.
Offensively, the Cyclones have seven players with triple digit kills this season and are led by two players with over 200 kills in Alea Goolsby (287) and Maya Duckworth (223).
ISU leads the Big 12 in kills per set (14.36) and assists per set (13.25), while they rank within the top-5 in nine additional categories.
The Cyclones 14.36 team kills per set average is good for eighth in the nation.
On the defensive side, Iowa State is second in digs per set, led by Rachel Van Gorp's 4.54 per set - good for second in the conference. Van Gorp was named to the 2024 Big 12 All-Rookie Team and has garnered to Defensive Player of the Week honors this season.

HEADED TO THE ATL

K-State's Shaylee Myers was selected 16^th overall by the Atlanta Vibe in the 2025 Major League Volleyball draft Monday afternoon.
A native of Lincoln, Nebraska, Myers was the eighth pick of the second round and was one of only three players from the Big 12 Conference to be drafted, alongside Arizona State's Colby Neal (Round 2, No. 13) and Arizona's Jordan Wilson (Round 3, No. 18).
Myers becomes the second player in school history to be selected in the MLV, formally known as the Pro Volleyball Federation, joining former teammate Sydney Bolding, who was taken 11^th overall by Grand Rapids in 2023.

HOME SWEET HOME

K-State is 8-4 at home in this season, that started with a perfect 4-0 after their home-opening tournaments against UMBC, Delaware, NC State and Nevada.
Head coach Jason Mansfield is 22-16 (.579) overall at home in his three-year K-State career, that includes 15-11 (.577) mark in Big 12 play.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

For the first time since 2021, K-State has six wins in true road matches in a season as it holds a 6-4 road record entering Saturday's contest with Iowa State.
The Wildcats are one of only five Big 12 teams with a winning road record in conference matches this season.

K-State eyes its first postseason bid since the 2021 season, when the Cats faced Florida State in the Round of 64 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Both K-State (No. 32 in the RPI) and Iowa State (No. 20) seek at-large bids into the 2025 NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship, as 11 Big 12 team finds themselves within the top 50 of the latest RPI poll.
In its history, K-State has made the NCAA Tournament 18 times, advancing to a Regional Semifinal three times (Last, 2011 in Honolulu, Hawaii).
The Wildcats are 10-13 overall in the NCAA Tournament.

MILESTONE WATCH

Myers is 41 kills short of her 1,000^th career kill.
She would be the 20^th player in school history to reach 1,000 career kills, and only second player to do so in the last seven years.
She is the 28^th Wildcat to reach the 1,000 career point mark, ranking 24^th overall in the school history with 1,071 career points.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

The Wildcats are undefeated when leading in kills (16-0) and attack percentage (13-0), and are 14-0 when hitting above .200 with five victories hitting north of .300.
Additionally, the Cats are 11-1 when they have limited their opponents to a hitting efficiency under .200. In four of those wins, opponents hit under .100.
Conversely, K-State is 5-7 when opponents post a team efficiency above .200.
The Wildcats post an impressive 13-1 record when winning the opening set.

Arizona State clinched the 2025 Big 12 Volleyball title outright for the second consecutive season with a 3-1 road win Friday over Houston.
The Sun Devils (24-3) are 15-1 in league play with two matches remaining in the regular season.
Seven schools rank in the latest AVCA Coaches Top 25 Poll – No. 9 Arizona State, No. 16 Kansas, No. 20 TCU, No. 21 Iowa State, No. 22 Baylor, No. 23 Colorado and No. 24 BYU, while Kansas State is receiving votes.
Utah's Kamryn Gibadlo (offensive), Baylor's Morgan Madison (defensive), and BYU's Suli Davis (rookie) were named the Big 12 Volleyball Players of the Week for matches ending Nov. 23.

DOUBLE DOWN

Ava LeGrand, Aniya Clinton and Shaylee Myers have each recorded a double-double this season for K-State, with all three registering double-doubles at Cincinnati (Oct. 3) and KU (Oct. 24).
LeGrand leads the way with 14 in 2025, followed by Clinton with seven and Myers six.
The trio combine for 31 double-doubles in their respective careers.

SENIOR STACKED

K-State's four seniors are leading the team in nearly every major statistical category.
Myers paces the offense with 428 total kills, 4.76 kills per set, 469.5 points, and 5.22 points per set.
LeGrand orchestrates the offense with 10.21 assists per set (919 total) with a team-leading 27 service aces.
Schmidt leads the way in blocks per set (1.03), followed by Williams (1.00 blocks/set), who leads overall in total blocks (85.0) and hitting percentage (.340).

VS. THE TOP 25

K-State is 4-5 against teams ranked in the AVCA Coaches Top 25 Poll with victories over then-No. 25 North Carolina, -No. 14 KU, and -No. 20 Colorado, and No. 21 Baylor – while they are 1-2 against teams receiving votes.
The Wildcats boast an overall mark of 10-17 in the Mansfield era against Top 25 teams.

YEAR THREE OF THE MANSFIELD ERA

Jason Mansfield, who was appointed as the ninth head coach on Dec. 27, 2022, is in his third season at the helm of the Kansas State volleyball program.
In year one, K-State achieved a record-breaking five top-25 wins with victories over No. 3 Texas, No. 8 BYU (twice), No. 18 Baylor, and No. 25 Iowa State.
K-State handed Texas – the 2022 and 2023 NCAA National Champion – its only loss in conference play in its final season in the Big 12.
Overall, K-State boasts a 10-17 (.370) mark against Top 25 opponents under Mansfield.

LAST TIME OUT

K-State's Ava LeGrand and Shaylee Myers each recorded a double-double Wednesday night as the Wildcats returned to the win column with a three-set sweep of Houston at the Fertitta Center, 25-19, 25-20, 25-20.
The Cats hit at a .257 clip (46 kills, 16 errors, 113 attempts), while holding Houston to a .130 hitting percentage (32 kills, 18 errors, 108 swings).
Myers led all players with 16 kills to go along with 13 digs for her sixth double-double of the year, while LeGrand handed out 37 assists with 11 digs.
LeGrand leads the 2025 squad with 14 double-doubles.
Myers and Clinton each tallied a pair of service aces while Van Lannen had one.
