K-State Takes on Oklahoma State in Friday Afternoon Match Up

The Wildcats take on the Cowgirls in lone match up of the weekend
MANHATTAN, Kan.- The K-State women's tennis team continues Big 12 play with one match on Friday (March 14) against Oklahoma State at Mike Goss Tennis Stadium.

K-State (6-5, 3-1 Big 12) competes in just one match up on Friday at 5:30 p.m., looking to continue a three-match win streak, against the #36 Cowgirls (9-6, 3-1 Big 12). With high winds expected, the match location could change to Body First Tennis Center. Any further updates will be posted to the K-State Tennis X and Facebook accounts.

In the last four meetings between the two teams, OSU has walked away with the win. Last season playing in Stillwater, Okla., the Wildcats fell short 0-4.

In the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings from March 4, Oklahoma State has four women in the rankings. In singles, Gracie Epps (49), Anastasiya Komar (81) and Marcela Lopez (105). In doubles they have pairs of Komar and Rose Marie Nijkamp at no. 69 and Epps and Lopez at no. 83.

In the first two Big 12 road matches, K-State came out victorious, against Cincinnati (4-3) on March 7 and West Virginia (4-2) on March 9. Sophomore Maralgoo Chogsomjav was successful in consecutive three-set matches, earning the clinching point against the Bearcats. Sophomore Charlotte Keitel also won back-to-back matches for the first time on the no. 2 court while senior Veronika Kulhava and junior Maria Santos also collected singles wins in both matches.
