Tennis Wraps Up Regular Season at Iowa State, Kansas

MANHATTAN, Kan.- The K-State women's tennis team wraps up the Big 12 Conference regular season on the road on Friday (April 11) against Iowa State and in the Sunflower Showdown against Kansas on Sunday (April 13).

#53 K-State (9-9, 6-5 Big 12) will start the weekend against the #65 Iowa State Cyclones (10-9, 4-7 Big 12) on Friday at 4 p.m. at the Forker Tennis Courts in Ames, Iowa. The Wildcats and Cyclones are 3-3 in the last six meetings, K-State winning last season in Manhattan, 6-1, to break a previous three match losing streak.

The Cyclones have one woman ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) singles rankings, Anna Supapitch Kuearum at no. 119.

On Sunday in Lawrence the Wildcats will compete in the Sunflower Showdown against #39 Kansas Jayhawks (12-9, 6-5 Big 12) at 12 p.m. at the Jayhawk Tennis Center. K-State has won just one match against the Jayhawks in the last six meetings, falling short last season 1-4.

KU features women in both the ITA singles and doubles rankings, Gracie Mulville showing up at no. 102 individually and also partnered with Heike Janse Van Vuuren in the doubles list at no. 33.

The Wildcats were ranked for a third consecutive week in the ITA team rankings at no. 53. The rise in the rankings by nine spots from no. 62 comes after the last home stand of the season with consecutive wins over BYU and Utah.

The Cats were victorious over then-ranked #55 Cougars, the third ranked win of the season, in a close 4-3 decision. The team then continued the sweep of the weekend over the Utes winning 4-1 with another singles win for Charlotte Keitel and Veronika Kulhava.
