K-State Takes Short Drive to Big 12 Championship Hosted by Kansas

Wildcats start the postseason after a successful end in the last meet at home
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State track and field teams begin the postseason with the Big 12 Championship on Thursday-Saturday (May 15-17) in Lawrence, Kan., at Rock Chalk Park.

Single session tickets start at $15 with a three-day pass for $30. Children four and under gain free admission. All three days will be streamed on ESPN+.

With no K-State athletes competing in the combined events, competition will start on Thursday with the men's hammer throw at 12 p.m., while the track events will start at 6:30 p.m. with the men's preliminary 1,500 meters.

On Friday the field events will begin at 4 p.m. with the women's pole vault and long jump. The men's preliminary 110 meter hurdles will start on the track at 5 p.m.

The Wildcats wrapped up the regular season at home on May 9 in the Ward Haylett Invitational at R.V. Christian Track. During the day sophomores Vienna Lahner and Tavon Underwood set new meet records while 10 more were also victorious.

Lahner won the women's 1,500 meters in 4:22.99, the fastest time ran in the meet since 2013 from Natalie Baker of Kansas at 4:25.28. Underwood won the men's 400 meter dash in 45.75 seconds, his new personal best ahead of the previous record of 46.06 from Kyle Clemons representing Adidas in 2019.

Other notable event winners include senior Ludivine Aubert in the women's 400 meter hurdles in 57.49 seconds, the new no. 4 time in the K-State top-10, and junior Nate Collier in the men's discus with his best throw of the season at 56.25m (184' 6").
