Cats Tied for Seventh Through 36 Holes in Norman

Sep 20, 2025 | Women's Golf

NORMAN, Okla. – Thanks to a second-round score of 6-under par 274, the Kansas State women's golf team is tied for seventh place through 36 holes of play on Saturday at the Schooner Fall Classic held at the par-70, 6,182-yard Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Oklahoma.

The Wildcats are at 1-under par 559 through the first two rounds. Following a morning tally of 5-over par 285, K-State came back with a score that tied for the second-lowest round in school history and the third-lowest second-round score among the 16-team field.

"We battled well all day, but we made too many mistakes towards the end of both rounds," said head coach Stew Burke, whose team is tied with Texas State and three shots shy of fifth place. "It was a bit frustrating that we couldn't come up with that fourth score. We are young and still learning to close, but it's highlighted in fields of this quality. One big final push required."

K-State's day was featured by a pair of bogey-free afternoon rounds of 5-under par 65 from senior Noa van Beek and freshman Stalee Fields, which tied for the third-lowest rounds in school history.

Fields, a native of Fort Worth, Texas, bounced back from a first-round score of 4-over par 74 with the lowest round by a freshman in school history. Beginning the afternoon on No. 11, Fields tallied birdies on her first two holes before two more on Nos. 16 and 7 in addition to her final hole of the day, the par-4 10th hole. She enters the final round tied for 20th place at 1-under par 139.

Also starting her second round on No. 11, van Beek birdied her first hole and No. 14 before stringing together three-straight birdies on Nos. 2-4. van Beek's second round was a big turnaround from her first-round total of 6-over par 76. The Oene, Netherlands, product will begin the final round tied for 29th place at 2-over par 141.

"Noa and Stalee came up big in the second round to keep us within touching distance going into the final round," Burke said.

Sophomore Nanami Nakashima is tied with van Beek after going 1-under par 69 in the first round before a score of 2-over par 72 in the afternoon. Her first-round total was balanced by three birdies and two bogeys, but a tough second 9 in the afternoon gave her an over-par total.

Freshman Keen Visavapattamawan is tied for 55th place with a 36-hole score of 5-over par 145. She is one shot ahead of sophomore Kelsey Chen, who is tied for 62nd place.

Oklahoma State holds the lead at 16-under par 544, seven shots ahead of second-place Iowa State. Oklahoma's Meg Tilma – who is competing as an individual – and Georgia's Sydney Givens are atop the individual leaderboard at 8-under par 132.

The final round of the Schooner Fall Classic is slated for a 10 a.m., shotgun start on Sunday, as the Wildcats are paired with Florida State and Texas State. Live results can be followed on SCOREBOARD powered by Clippd.
