FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Kansas State men's golf team ended its weekend in the middle of the pack after 54 holes of golf, as the Wildcats finished in fifth place in the Blessings Collegiate Invitational following Monday's final round at the par-72, 7,991-yard Blessings Golf Club. Â
Â
A score of 13-over par 301 in the final round gave the Cats a 54-hole score of 42-over par 906. K-State finished just two strokes short of fourth-place finisher Southern Mississippi. Â

"There were definitely some bright spots today, but we just made too many mistakes to move up," said head coach Grant Robbins. "I thought we kept the ball in play off the tee pretty well, which was one of the keys coming into this week. However, our iron play wasn't the best, and we gave away way too many shots on the greens. The three putts we had just killed any momentum, and you can't afford to give those shots away, especially on a course like this. We have a lot of work to do, but we will learn from it and keep working to get better. I know the guys will be excited to change things up a little with the match play tournament coming up."Â
Â
Oliver Toyer, the Cambridgeshire, England native, finished his final round 2-over 74, as he tied for 10th place and finished in the top spot among the Cats. The sophomore finished the first nine of the day at 2-under par, getting three birdies through the first five holes of the day. He finished with a 54-hole total of 4-over par 220.Â
Â
Sophomore Ville Virkkala finished the invitational in a tie for 13th place thanks to a 2-over par 74 final round, totaling him out to 7-over 223 for the tournament. It was his second top-20 performance in as many events this season.Â
Â
Junior Erik Sabelström Holmberg finished the weekend third among the Cats after a strong final nine holes where he tallied five birdies. A 5-over par 77 in the final round put the Stockholm, Sweden, product at 16-over par 232 to finish in 32nd placeÂ
Â
Sophomore Octavio Laurent finished round three at 6-over par 78, leaving him at 18-over par 234 to tie for 35th place. Fionn Dobbin, a native of Lisburn, Northern Ireland, rounded out the scoring lineup for the Cats with a final-round total of 4-over par 76 and a 54-hole score of 19-over par 235 to tie for 37th place. Â
