Wildcats Ready for Ranked Match Up at Oklahoma State

The #53 ranked Cats will face the #27 Cowgirls in the lone weekend match
MANHATTAN, Kan.- The K-State women's tennis team preps for one conference match on the road against Oklahoma State on Saturday (March 14) at Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Okla.
#53 K-State (5-5, 2-2 Big 12) is set to face #27 Oklahoma State (6-5, 3-1 Big 12) at 1 p.m., in the first match for the ranked Wildcats. In the last five meetings against the Cowgirls the team has come up short, including the last match in Manhattan last season exactly a year ago on March 14, with a 4-1 result.
In the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings from March 10, the Cats entered the team rankings at #53. Last season the team first entered the rankings at #73 the week of February 28 and reached the highest team rank at #53 the last week of the regular season.
The Chogsomajv sisters, junior Maralgoo Chogsomjav and freshman Martaa Chogsomjav, still sit at #45 in the doubles rankings, with a 6-2 record overall and 3-1 in Big 12 play.
Oklahoma State has three individuals ranked in singles, Rose Marie Nijkamp (22), Lucie Peyre (51) and Olivia Lincer (53). OSU also has one doubles pair, Nijkamp and Anastasiya Komar at #20.
In the first conference road matches at Colorado (March 6) and #34 Texas Tech (March 8), the Wildcats split the weekend with a 4-3 win over the Buffaloes before a 4-0 loss to the Red Raiders.
In Boulder, Colo., the Cats won its sixth doubles point of the season as the Chogsomjav duo won their fifth match in a row defeating Aya El Sayed and Pia Rebec 6-1. Freshman Sasha Kyselova and sophomore Chanel Rustemova then won their first match together in a month, the first in the no. 3 position, with a 6-4 advantage over Ema Bubalo and Anya Nelson.
Kyselova, Rustemova and freshman Varvara Bernovich then won their singles matches in straight sets, a first for all three women in conference play.
After Saturday, K-State will play its next two matches at home in Manhattan, against Baylor on March 20 and TCU on March 22.
