MANHATTAN, Kansas – K-State women's basketball head coach Jeff Mittie has added an international talent to the 2026-27 roster, as Shaila Nde (SHY-luh en-DAY) from Spain has signed with the Wildcats.
"We are excited to add Shaila to our family," said Mittie. "She will bring athleticism and an emerging offensive game at the forward spot with a good ability off the bounce and an improving three-point attack. She has great experience playing with the Spanish national teams and winning goal last summer.
A forward, Nde teamed up with current Wildcat and teammate Gina Garcia on the Spanish U20 National Team to win the 2025 FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket in August. Nde saw action in seven games and averaged 6.9 points on a .475 field goal percentage, a .769 effort from the foul line, 7.3 rebounds and 0.9 assists. She ranked 10th in the tournament for rebounding average.
Earlier in 2025, Nde helped Spain to a bronze medal finish at the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup and registered seven games of action while notching averages of 6.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists.
In 2024, she played in seven games and averaged 9.3 points on a .569 field goal percentage, 6.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists during the FIBA U16 Women's EuroBasket. During the tournament, Nde tallied three games in double figures including 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting, eight rebounds and three assists in the third-place game.
In addition to her international experiences, Nde played with Segle XXI in the Spanish Liga Femenina 2 last season. Nde averaged 10.5 points on a .475 field goal percentage, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 22 games.
K-State ended its 58th season in 2025-26 with a 19-18 overall record and the fifth straight postseason appearance and the 10th in the last 12 seasons.
