
Wildcats Take on UCF, Houston in Last Two Road Matches

MANHATTAN, Kan.- The K-State women's tennis team will travel for the last set of road matches of the regular season, beginning with UCF on Friday (April 3) in Orlando, Fla.
K-State (5-10, 2-7) will take on it's highest ranked Big 12 opponent in the #19 Golden Knights (14-3, 7-2 Big 12) at 5 p.m. CT, at the UCF Collegiate Tennis Center. The Wildcats are 0-2 against UCF since joining the conference with 4-1 losses in the last two seasons.
On Sunday (April 5) the Cats will then take on #41 Houston (14-5, 4-5 Big 12) in Houston, Texas, at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility at 1 p.m. K-State has been successful in the last two matches over the Cougars, winning last season at home with a 4-0 sweep.
In the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings from March 31, the Chogsomjav sisters, junior Maralgoo and freshman Martaa are #80 in the doubles poll.
Last week the Cats spent the weekend in Utah with matches against then-ranked #36 BYU in Provo on April 3 and #33 Utah on April 5 in Salt Lake City. K-State fell to the BYU Cougars 4-0 before securing one point against the Utes in a 4-1 loss.
Facing Utah, freshman Varvara Bernovich secured the lone singles victory in the no. 6 spot over Hayley Roberts, 6-2, 6-0. Maralgoo Chogsomjav was in the middle of a three-set match against Sara Akid in the no. 2 court at 6-1, 4-6, 3-3 before going unfinished.
The Wildcats will then end the regular season with two home matches in Manhattan against Iowa State on April 10 and Kansas in the Sunflower Showdown on April 12.
