This is the third consecutive season Maralgoo has earned post season accolades
MANHATTAN, Kan.- K-State's junior Maralgoo Chogsomjav and freshman Martaa Chogsomjav each earned two Big 12 Conference accolades on Thursday (April 30) as announced by the conference. As a duo they were named to the All-Big 12 First Team Doubles, while Maralgoo is nominated to the All-Big 12 Second Team Singles and Martaa is selected for the All-Big 12 Freshman Team.
Maralgoo has now earned postseason accolades from the conference, also being named to the Second Team Singles in 2025 and placed on the All-Freshman Team in 2024.
"Really proud of these ladies," head coach Jordan Smith said. "This is the third year in a row that Maggie has gotten Big 12 honors. Which speaks volumes to what she has been doing as a Wildcat."
As a team in doubles play, the sisters from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, finished the spring with a 9-6 record, 5-5 in Big 12 play. The pair earned their highest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) ranking at no. 33 on February 4 and maintained a spot in the rankings for six weeks.
Maralgoo went 10-9 in singles competition during the spring, 15-13 for the year, while going 5-5 against conference opponents. She was 8-6 in the no. 1 spot, now 11-8 during her career.
Martaa was 8-7 in singles play, 18-10 for the year, and 2-5 in the Big 12, while facing four ranked opponents, tied for the most on the team this season. During the fall, she was crowned the Milwaukee Tennis Classic Singles Champion on September 28 after collecting six consecutive victories.
"Awesome for Martaa to receive two honors as a freshman. Pretty cool to see these two sisters doing so well and representing K-State so proudly." Smith added.
This is the first season the Wildcats have had a doubles team earn conference accolades since 2021, with Karine Marion-Job and assistant coach Maria Linares during her junior season.
In the six categories awarded, yearly awards, first/second singles and doubles teams and freshman team, conference champions TCU earned 10 accolades, including freshman of the year and coach of the year, while Arizona State had the second most awards with six.
K-State ended the regular season with an 8-13, 3-10 Big 12 record in the eighth season under Smith.
