K-State Lands 12 on CSC Academic All-District Team

It marks a consecutive accolade for four athletes
MANHATTAN, Kan. – 12 K-State track and field athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team on Tuesday (June 23) as announced by CSC. Five of these Wildcats accomplished a 4.00 GPA during the academic year.
Six men-- Thomas Canivet, Tah Chikomba, Brock Olsen, Selva Prabhu, Emil Uhlin and Tavon Underwood—and six women-- Jourdin Edwards, Cecilia Fisher, Kayla Goodwin, Aaliyah Lindsay, Taylor Mayo and Maud Zeffou-Poaty were named. 17 Wildcats have now earned the academic accolade in the two seasons under head coach Travis Geopfert.
This is a consecutive honor for Underwood, Edwards and Mayo while it is the fourth time Uhlin has been named. Select athletes were chosen for advancement to Academic All-America accolades, that will be announced on July 14-15.
Canivet, a sophomore from Saint Nicolas de la Taille, France, is majoring in chemical engineering with a 3.91 GPA. He qualified for the 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA West Preliminary where he ran 50.66 seconds in the first round. Canivet achieved his personal best this season in 50.04 seconds at the Big 12 Championship, tied for the no. 2 fastest time in K-State history.
Chikomba, a junior, is majoring in kinesiology with a 3.78 GPA. The Zimbabwe native was crowned the NCAA Outdoor Champion in the long jump at 8.37m (27' 5.5"), the new K-State school record. He also won the conference title at the Big 12 Championship at 8.27m (27' 1.75"), the new conference and Drachman Stadium facility records. On May 27 at the West Prelims he jumped 8.75m (28' 8.5"), wind aide of 3.2, which is the NCAA #1 all-conditions all-time and #7 all-conditions all-time in world history. He was named the USTFCCCA National Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year and the Midwest Region Field Athlete of the Year. He was named to The Bowerman watchlist on June 4.
Olsen is studying advertising and public relations with a 4.00 GPA. The sophomore from Overland Park, Kan., already earned academic honors this season, named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team as part of the cross country team. During the year he competed in multiple distance events, highlighted by running the 10k at the Drake Relays where he ran a time under 30 minutes at 29:59.85, the no. 9 fastest time in the school all-time top-10. During the cross country season, he ran his fastest 8k time in 24:39.9 at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational.
Prabhu, from Madurai, India, is majoring in exploratory studies as a sophomore with a 3.5 GPA. He was crowned the NCAA Outdoor Champion in the triple jump at 16.92m (55' 6.25"), the no. 3 best outdoor jump at K-State. He too was a Big 12 Champion, where he jumped 17.19m (56' 4.75"), wind aide of 4.6, that would have been a Big 12 record with legal wind. At the NCAA Indoor Championship he earned a silver medal in the triple jump while breaking the school record at 17.05m (55' 11.25").
Uhlin graduated with a 4.00 GPA in biology. The decathlete from Falun, Sweden, graduates with multiple academic honors, including a 2025 Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award recipient, two-time CSC Academic All-American Third Team and four years on the All-District Team. At the NCAA Outdoor Championship he finished 5th in the decathlon with 7,976 points for his second First Team All-America honors. He finished his college career with the no. 3 best performance in the school records. In his first decathlon of the season he recorded 7,773 points at the David Noble Relays.
Underwood, a junior from Longmont, Co., is studying mechanical engineering with a 3.85 GPA. Last season he landed on the All-District Team and the Academic All-Big 12 Team as well. Racing mainly in the 400 meters all year, he finished in 3rd place at the outdoor Big 12 Championship with his personal best 45.30 seconds, tied for K-State's no. 2 fastest outdoor time. As part of the 4x400 relay team, they advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Championship for All-America honorable mention in 3:04.83 in 17th place. With the relay team at the indoor Big 12 Championship, they won with a time of 3:05.59.
Edwards, from Frisco, Texas, graduated with a 4.00 GPA in modern languages, Spanish. She finishes her career with multiple academic accolades, including a 2025 Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award recipient and two years on the CSC Academic All-District Team. Competing in hurdle events all season, she qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary in the 400-meter hurdles where she finished 18th in the region in 57.94 seconds. She reached the podium at the outdoor Big 12 Championship in 6th place in 57.57 seconds. Her 60-meter hurdle time of 8.39 seconds at the indoor conference championship is no. 10 in the school records.
Fisher studies mathematics education as a senior with a 4.00 GPA. Also from Overland Park, Fisher has also collected multiple academic accolades, including a 2025 Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award recipient, on the 2024 CSC Academic All-District Team and landing on the Academic All-Big 12 team for three straight years. After redshirting the indoor season, she ran mainly in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in outdoor competition, at the Big 12 Championship she finished 14th in 10:44.26. Also on the cross country team, she finished in 60th place in the Big 12 Championship 6k with a time of 21:33.2.
Goodwin, hailing from Hamilton, New Zealand, earned her masters degree with a 4.00 GPA. After spending four seasons at Central Missouri, she ended her collegiate career as a Wildcat competing in the combined events. She competed in the heptathlon twice during the outdoor season, scoring 5,292 points at the outdoor Big 12 Championship, her best events being the javelin and shot put.
Lindsay, from Kingston, Jamaica, graduated with a 3.61 GPA in integrative human sciences. She earned her first NCAA First Team All-America honors at the NCAA Outdoor Championship in the long jump after finishing 8th at 6.44m (21' 1.5"). At the NCAA West Prelims she finished 4th overall with her personal best distance of 6.55m (21' 6"), tied for K-State's no. 2 best outdoor long jump. She was the only woman on the K-State team to qualify for the first round in two events, also competing in the triple jump.
Mayo is a junior studying integrative physiology with a 4.00 GPA. The native from Springfield, Mo., landed on the All-District Team for a consecutive year. Competing all season in the triple jump, she recorded her personal best at the Rock Chalk Classic at 13.22m (43' 4.5"). She qualified for the NCAA First Round where she finished in 30th place at 12.89m.
Wright, a native of Paola, Kan., graduated with a 3.77 GPA in accounting. Three consecutive years she landed on the Academic All-Big 12 Team. During the outdoor season she ran in the 400-meter hurdles, having the 15th fastest time in the Midwest Region at 58.91 seconds from the Drake Relays. She ran in two events during the indoor season, the 400 meters and 600 yards, running her fastest 600 yards at the Big 12 Championship in 1:21.44.
Zeffou-Poaty is a junior studying studio art with a 3.53 GPA. The Ecouen, France native won the indoor Big 12 Championship in the long jump at 6.62m (21' 8.75"), the no. 3 best jump in the school all-time top-10. At the NCAA Indoor Championship she earned First Team All-America honors in 6th place at 6.37m (20' 10.75"). She qualified for the West Prelims where she finished with a distance of 6.20m (20' 4.25") in 25th place.
To be included on the CSC All-District Team, an undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale, while graduate student-athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA as both an undergraduate and graduate student. On the track, an athlete must have a top-50 regional ranking in an individual event during the indoor or outdoor season.
