Baseball Honored with ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State baseball team was honored for the second consecutive year for its success in the classroom, as the Wildcats received the Team Academic Excellence Award by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) for the 2025-26 season.
The award, established in 2016, recognizes high school and college teams coached by ABCA members that achieve a cumulative team 3.00 grade point average or higher on a 4.00 scale during the academic year. This year's award recipients include more than 500 college programs and more than 320 high school programs.
K-State was one of nine Big 12 schools to earn the award, marking the program's third time receiving the honor, earning the award for the 2016-17 and 2025-26 seasons. The Wildcats posted a 3.31 team GPA for the 2025-26 academic year, that included a record-breaking 3.31 spring semester GPA.
The American Baseball Coaches Association has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams are the nation's oldest, founded in 1949, and the ABCA's awards program also includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Awards, the ABCA/Diamond Regional & National Coaches of the Year and several other major awards such as the ABCA Hall of Fame and the Ethics in Coaching Award.
Under eighth-year head coach Pete Hughes, K-State finished the 2026 season with a 30-27 overall record, securing the program's fourth consecutive 30-win campaign. The streak matches the longest stretch of 30-win seasons in school history and marks the Wildcats' first run since 1988-91.
