OMAHA, Neb. – K-State rolled to its eighth straight win to finish the preseason undefeated, as the Wildcats dealt Omaha a four-set loss, 25-20, 11-25, 25-16, 25-15, Saturday afternoon at Baxter Arena.

K-State (8-0) finished its non-conference season undefeated, marking just the second season in program history that the Wildcats have gone undefeated before conference play, joining the 2012 squad. With the loss, Omaha fell to 6-4 overall.

The Wildcats are one of seven remaining undefeated Division I programs in 2026, while the eight-game winning streak marks the program's longest winning streak since 2018, when K-State finished the preseason 10-1.

Overall statement…
"Like I said last night, I knew the back-to-back was going to be a little rough for us. I was really happy with how we started, though. I thought we had good energy in the first set. Omaha is an incredibly good serve-and-pass team. I mean, they served really tough, especially early, and that kind of carried over into the second set. We just kind of lost control, even in our service game. They played good defense, so I challenged them in between the second and third sets to have a bounce-back like we've had at different times this year. I thought they did that. I love the way that we played in the third and fourth sets. I thought Camdyn Stucky and Sydney Maue came in and did a great job, and so did Reese [Resmer]. I thought they changed the rest of the match."

On first undefeated preseason performance since 2012…
"Just the consistency is key, right? We're trying to be a consistent program that, no matter who we're playing against, we're competing and battling. I didn't really think that we were going to go undefeated when we started the season, so I'm really happy with that. Obviously, we've been challenged a lot in some different ways, and I'm glad that we not only got challenged today, but we made up for some of the mistakes that we made in the second set. But yeah, I'm really proud of our team. I mean, you can't ask for anything more than to be 8-0 at this point. It's going to get tougher, as we know, but I think we're battle-tested and we'll be ready for UCF."

SET-BY-SET
Set 1 – K-State 25, Omaha 20

The two squads went back-and-forth in Set 1 with neither team maintaining a substantial lead.
Tied 17-17, K-State broke away with a two-point advantage behind back-to-back kills from Addison Massey and Reagan Fox, both connecting on passes from Fuka Sekita.
Leading 19-18, the Wildcats put the set away with a 6-2 scoring run to capture their fourth consecutive set win.
Massey put down six of the Cats' 15 kills in Set 1.
As a team, K-State hit at a .419 clip, while limiting the Mavericks to a .172 hitting percentage and forcing five errors (10 kills, 29 attempts).

Set 2 – Omaha 25, K-State 11

The Mavericks capitalized on a 7-2 scoring run and captured an 11-6 lead to force a timeout from K-State.
Omaha scored six straight points to expand its lead, 17-8, until a kill by Skylar Brady snapped the run.
K-State faced its largest deficit of the season, as the Mavericks collected a dominating Set 2 victory, 25-11.
Omaha produced a .440 hitting percentage with just one attack error (12 kills, 25 swings) with the defense forcing eight K-State errors behind four blocks and 14 digs, as the Wildcats were held to a .000 efficiency (8 kills, 32 attempts).

Set 3 – K-State 25, Omaha 16

K-State overcame a three-point deficit, 7-4, with a 6-1 scoring run to take its first lead in the set.
An elite pancake save by Sekita kept the play alive, allowing Lauren Latham to set up Massey for her 15^th kill of the match and push the Wildcats ahead, 15-11.
The Wildcats continued to find momentum, as they pieced together a 10-4 closing run, which included multiple kills by Sydney Maue and service ace from Carter Chandler.
K-State registered 15 kills on 36 swings with seven errors to hit .222 in Set 3, led by six from Massey.
Behind a 15-10 advantage in dig production, K-State held Omaha to a .062 hitting percentage (8 kills, 6 errors, 32 attempts).

Set 4 – K-State 25, Omaha 15

The Wildcats jumped out to a quick five-point lead, 10-5, highlighted by blocks from Camdyn Stucky, Reese Resmer, Skylar Brady and Cadence Lundgren.
K-State stretched its lead 20-12, before scoring five of the final eight points to put the match away and record their eighth consecutive win.
The Wildcats' defense forced 10 errors, out-blocking the Mavericks 4-0 in the final set.

INSIDE THE BOX

K-State picked up a four-set victory over Omaha – 25-20, 11-25, 25-16, 25-15.
K-State ended the match hitting .229 (46 kills, 19 errors, 118 attempts), while Omaha hit .158 (41 kills, 22 errors, 120 attempts).
The Wildcats had nine players record a kill, led by 16 from Massey and nine by Brady.
Lundgren added eight kills with a match-leading four blocks.
Seven different players contributed a block for K-State.
Emerson Van Lannen and Latham combined for 36 assists, while Van Lannen had a pair of aces.
Sekita led all players with 17 digs to go along with seven assists.
Three players reached double-digit kills for Omaha: Dara Obeid (13), Madison Corf (11), and Faith Venable (10).
The Wildcats out-blocked the Mavericks, 7-6, while posting a 45-44 edge in dig production.

TEAM NOTES

K-State lead the all-time series 15-6, while boasting a 4-3 record in matches played in Omaha.
Saturday marked the first meeting on the court since September 1, 2023, and the first in Omaha since September 18, 2021.
K-State finished its non-conference season with a perfect 8-0 record, marking just the second season in program history the team has gone undefeated before conference play (first since 2012).
