Burris is entering his 10th season with the K-State baseball program as Assistant Athletic Trainer. He oversees injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation for the Wildcats.

With the Special Tactics Squadron, the seven-year non-commissioned officer with the United States Air Force and Oklahoma Air National Guard worked directly with special operations forces, instructing personnel on injury prevention strategies, injury evaluation, and initial and long term management. He also developed concussion protocol for Special Tactics Units across the Air Force.

Burris’ last stint in the collegiate ranks was as the athletic trainer for the Charleston Southern baseball program, a role he served for two seasons. He was also the Head Athletic Trainer at Southern Wesleyan University from July 2010 to January 2012, acting as the sole athletic trainer for 10 varsity programs. Also at Southern Wesleyan, he directed the women’s basketball strength and conditioning program.

Burris earned his bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Oklahoma State in 2008 before moving on to Clemson to earn his Master of Human Resource Development in 2010. He served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Clemson while pursuing his master’s degree, working mainly with men’s and women’s track and field, men’s and women’s cross country, and men’s tennis.
