Hughes enters his fifth season as K-State’s assistant coach. After finishing his playing career for the Wildcats in 2019, Hughes spent one season as the volunteer assistant at Morehead State under head coach Mik Aoki. The Eagles went 5-10 before the 2020 season was cut short due to COVID-19.

In 2024, Hughes served as the Wildcats third base coach and helped guide K-State to its first run in the NCAA Tournament and first NCAA Super Regional appearance since 2013.

Hughes earned his bachelor’s degree in administrative leadership from Oklahoma in 2018 before pursuing a graduate degree in academic advising at K-State. Hughes is the son of K-State head coach Pete Hughes.

SENIOR (2019)

Made 57 starts (49 at shortstop) in one season at K-State ... Posted a slash line of .208/.361/.257 with seven doubles, a home run and 18 runs batted in ... Led K-State with 45 walks (most by a Wildcat since 2012) and finished third on the team on on-base percentage ... Drew five walks during the Big 12 Championship (most by a Wildcat in a single championship), with three coming against Kansas on May 23 ... Recorded eight multi-hit games with four games with multiple RBI and eight games drawing multiple walks ... Had a season-long 12-game on-base streak from March 17-April 3 that included an eight-game hitting streak (March 17-30) ... Hit first career home run on February 17 at CSUN (leadoff homer) ...  Committed just seven errors at shortstop and second base for a .971 fielding percentage and a team-high 154 assists ... During conference play, had a slash line of .253/.404/.289 with three doubles and 11 driven in ... Second on team with a .404 OBP with a team-high 18 walks during Big 12 play.

OKLAHOMA (2016-18)
In three seasons at Oklahoma, helped the Sooners reach an NCAA Regional twice, including a regional final ... Named to 2018 Tallahassee Regional Team, going 8-for-16 in Tallahassee ... Appeared in 24 games his junior season, hitting .356 with two doubles and six RBI ... In 2017, he played in 31 games and hit .167 with five RBI and a .389 on-base percentage ... In his freshman season, hit .136 with four RBI and a double with an on-base percentage of .375. 

HIGH SCHOOL
Graduated from Norman North High School in Norman, Oklahoma, and also attended Blacksburg High School in Blacksburg, Virginia ... A four-year letterwinner in high school and a three-time team captain, playing for Norman North in 2014-15 and Blacksburg in 2012-13 ... Named to Oklahoma All-State Team and Regional All-Star ... Won the Ferguson Jenkins Award in 2015 as the state's top baseball player.
