Tara Davis-Woodhall was announced as a track and field assistant coach by Director of Track and Field/Cross Country Travis Geopfert on August 2, 2024.
Davis-Woodhall, a professional long jumper, won the 2024 gold medal at the Paris Olympics with a jump of 7.10m (23' 3.50). During the 2024 World Indoor Championship in Glasgow she claimed gold with a jump of 7.07m (23' 2.50"). Davis-Woodhall's all-time best of 7.18m (23' 6.75"), and the no. 6 all-time jump in the event, was set during the 2024 USA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. on March 3.
A 2021 graduate at Texas, she swept the 2020-21 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships in the long jump and was the Big 12 Outdoor Champion. Prior to Texas, Davis-Woodhall spent her freshman year at Georgia where she was named the 2018 SEC Indoor Women’s Co-Freshman Field Athlete of the Year. All-told, she was a five-time First-Team All American, with four honors in the long jump and one in the 60-meter hurdles.

To say that she brings the energy is an understatement,” Geopfert said. “I’ve loved coaching this young woman for the last three years and to bring her elite level experience to Manhattan is absolutely invaluable. She knows what it takes to be great, and she also fully understands the challenges of what life is like as both a student-athlete and as a professional athlete. Her mentorship of these young student athletes is going to expedite their careers to an elite level in dramatic fashion. So excited to have TDW and her husband Hunter joining us in Manhattan!”
Davis-Woodhall is married to Hunter Woodhall, a Razorback alum and 2024 U.S. Paralympian who also won gold in the men's T62 400 meter dash in 46.36 seconds, as well as a bronze medal in the mixed 4x100 universal relay where his team ran in 47.32 seconds. The couple is represented by Nike.
