Scott Wood

Scott Wood is in his first season as Kansas State’s Head Football Athletic Trainer in 2026.
Wood came to Manhattan after serving the previous three seasons as the Associate Director of Athletic Medicine/Head Football Athletic Trainer at South Florida where he was a member of three bowl teams.
Wood went to USF from UTEP where he spent two years as the Associate Director of Sports Medicine/Head Football Athletic Trainer. During Scott’s first year at UTEP, the Miners appeared in the 2021 New Mexico Bowl.
Prior to UTEP, Scott spent five years at Maryland, culminating with a promotion to Associate Athletic Trainer for football in January 2020 after previously serving as an Assistant Athletic Trainer since April 2018. He previously served the Maryland football team as a Resident Athletic Trainer since June 2016. In addition to his role with the football program, Scott operated as the Athletic Training Department’s Insurance Coordinator.
Scott received his master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Sam Houston State in May 2016. During his two years in Huntsville, he worked with the SHSU football team, which appeared in back-to-back FCS Playoff Semifinals in 2014 and 2015.
Scott graduated from TCU in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training. While with the TCU football program, was part of the 2011 Rose Bowl and 2012 Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl squads.
Scott has been a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) since 2011 and is currently CPR/AED certified. He is also certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) since June 2015. Additionally, Scott holds Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) credentials through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
A native of Cedar Park, Texas, Scott is married to the former Katie Rhatigan, and the couple has two sons, Owen and Bryce, and a daughter, Riley.
