This past season, Maguire helped mentor quarterback Avery Johnson to four top-10 showings in the K-State record book as he placed fifth in passing yards by a junior (2,385), sixth in completions (304), ninth in passing touchdowns (18) and 10th in attempts (341). Additionally, Johnson produced 416 total yards at Baylor to rank sixth in school history for a single game, while his 29 completions in that game ranked seventh.
Working with Maguire the past two seasons, Johnson enters 2026 with eight top-10 showings in career categories, opening his senior campaign tied for the school record in passing touchdowns (48), while he is fourth in completions (458) and rushing yards by a quarterback (1,378), fifth in total offensive yards (6,954) and passing attempts (779), sixth in passing yards (5,576), seventh in passing efficiency (135.1) and 10th in career rushing yards per carry among all players (5.03).
During his first season on staff in 2024, Maguire helped K-State finish in the top 15 nationally in four offensive categories and rank in the top 10 in school history in 15 game or season categories, the latter featuring school records for offensive yards per play (6.57) and rushing yards per carry (6.08). Additionally, the 2024 Wildcats tied for third in school history in passing touchdowns (25), ranked fourth in offensive yards per game (426.8), fifth in total offensive yards (5,549), seventh in completions (222) and 10th in both passing yards (2,749) and pass attempts (383). Maguire assisted Johnson in setting the school record with 25 touchdown passes in 2024.
A former quarterback at Florida State, Maguire came to Manhattan after working the 2023 season at Buffalo as a defensive analyst and quality control coach. He went to upstate New York after working four seasons at Texas A&M, the first two as an offensive graduate assistant in 2018 and 2019 before serving as an offensive analyst the next two seasons.
Maguire played four seasons at Florida State, including the National Championship campaign of 2013. His best season came during his junior season of 2015 when he made five starts and threw for 1,520 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Maguire obtained his undergraduate degree in social sciences in addition to a minor in business from Florida State in 2017. After graduation, he earned an invitation to the Tennessee Titans rookie mini-camp, while he was the quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator at Pope John High School in New Jersey during the 2017 season.
