K-State Starts October at BYU Friday Night

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State (5-2-4, 0-2-1 Big 12) opens October with its first of two trips to the state of Utah, as the Wildcats face BYU (6-2-2, 2-0-1) on Friday. Match time is set for 8 p.m. (CT). This is K-State's second visit to Provo and first since Oc.t 9, 2023.

• Friday's match can be seen on ESPN+, as Jarom Jordan (play-by-play) and Landon Southwick (analyst) will have the call.
• The Wildcats enter Friday's match with a program-best road unbeaten streak of four straight (2-0-2).

Last Time Out
• K-State ended the month of September with a 1-2-3 record, as the Wildcats tallied a 1-1 draw with Arizona last Thursday and fell 2-0 to Arizona State on Sunday.
• Against Arizona, K-State took a 1-0 lead in the 55th minute. Sophomore forward Gabby DeMers registered her fifth goal of the season. DeMers is tied for third in school history for goals in season and has tied the school record for goals in a sophomore season.
• For the fourth and fifth time this season, K-State had goal scoring opportunities reversed by a Video Assistant Review (VAR). K-State challenged two calls in the first half due to two Arizona handballs in the box. The onfield referee did not agree and K-State was not awarded penalty kicks.
• Against Arizona State, the Wildcats outshot the Sun Devils, 16-10, including a 9-4 edge in shots on goal. However, Arizona State tallied goals in the ninth and 23rd minutes for the final margin.
• For the second time this season, K-State junior goalkeeper Maddie Sibbing stopped a penalty kick, doing so in the 73rd minute to keep the Wildcats within striking distance. Sibbing is the first K-State goalkeeper to stop two penalty kicks in both a season and a career.

• BYU (6-2-2, 2-0-1 Big 12) has won two straight including a 2-0 win over TCU on Monday night.
• The Cougars are led by head coach Jennifer Rockwood, who is in her 32nd season at the helm in Provo. During her time at BYU, Rockwood owns a mark of 481-145-70.

• K-State has reached the midway point of the 2026 season with a strong goal scoring performance after setting the school record for goals in a season during the 2025 season.
• The Wildcats have opened the 2026 season with 19 goals (1.73 gpg) in its first 11 matches. The Cats have six matches with two or more goals scored. K-State is seventh in the Big 12 for total goals. The Wildcats are eighth in the league for goal differential (+9).
• K-State's 19 goals this season ranks third in program history for a single season. The school record to reach 20 goals in a season is the 15th match of the 2025 season.
• In the 2025 season, the Wildcats registered 23 goals, which was a school record 1.28 per match. This was the second season in program history with 20 or more goals scored.
• In Big 12 action, K-State scored 10 goals which tied the school record for goals in a league season.
• K-State scored mutiple goals in a match nine times last season, setting the single season school record for matches with two or more goals scored.

Shot Prevention is Goal Prevention
• K-State has prevented opponent shots on goal to open the 2026 season.
• The Wildcats have held its foes to 4.18 shots on goal per game and a shots on goal percentage of .371.
• Against Missouri State on Aug. 20, K-State held the Bears to two total shots with only one on goal. The two total shots were the fewest allowed by K-State in program history. Against South Dakota State on Aug. 23, the Wildcats limited the Jackrabbits to five total shots with one on frame.
• In the 2025 season, the Wildcats limited opponents to a school record low 4.2 shots on goal per game and a .415 shots on goal percentage while surrendering 20 goals. The 20 goals allowed were the second fewest surrendered by K-State in a season and the fewest allowed in an 18-game regular season in program history.
• K-State allowed only three goals in non-conference play, the fewest allowed by K-State in non-conference games in program history.
• The Wildcats held Cincinnati on Oct. 16 without a shot attempt in the second half and without a shot on goal in the entirety of the game. On Oct. 23 at Houston, K-State held Houston without a shot in the first half.
• The lowest shots on goal percentage allowed by K-State is .360 in the 2023 season.

A Step Up for Demers
• Sophomore forward Gabby DeMers has achieved career highs in every stat category during the 2026 season.
• The product of Carlsbad, California, has notched five goals and two assists for 12 points on a team-high 33 shots with 15 on goal, while starting all 11 matches. All are new career single-season highs. Her five goals are tied for third in program history for a season and her 12 points are tied for fourth in program history for a single season. She is the sixth player in program history with five or more goals in a season.
• DeMers had a three-match point streak, which tied for the fourth-longest in program history. She started the streak with an assist at Iowa on Sept. 3 and tallied a goal in consecutive matches at Colorado State and at Colorado College before the stretch was ended against Houston on Sept. 18.
• DeMers tallied her first goal of 2026 at Hawaii on Aug. 15 and added her second against South Dakota State on Aug. 23.
• For her career, she owns six goals and two assists for 14 points with a shots on goal percentage of .465 (20-of-43). She ranks tied for ninth in program history for career goals and holds the school record for goals per game (0.24).

Braswell Playing Well
• Senior midfielder McKinnan Braswell has been a potent distributor in her two-season career at K-State.
• The native of North Richland Hills, Texas, has handed out six assists during her time in Manhattan. She ranks tied for fourth in program history for career assists and holds the record for career assists per game (0.21 apg).
• Braswell dished out an assist on the eventual game-winning goal at Hawaii on Aug. 15. Earlier in the weekend, she tallied the game-winning goal against Seattle U., on Aug. 13.
• Last season, Braswell tied for the team lead for assists with four.
• With her four assists in the 2025 season, Braswell tied for third in program history for assists in a season.
• At UMass Lowell on Aug. 28, Braswell handed out a career-high two assists.
• Braswell added to her stat ledger against West Virginia on Oct. 19, as she carded her first K-State goal. She was fourth on the squad in total shots (27). Her assists and total shots were new career-highs for a single season.
