A graduate of Kansas State, (1979, 1980), Mitch Holthus served as the “Voice of the Wildcats” from 1984-1996.  During his tenure, he was named Kansas Sportscaster of the Year six times, including four consecutive years, and won the prestigious Hod Humiston Award of Excellence by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters in 1996.

While at K-State, Holthus was a key part in the development of the Junior Wildcat Club, as well as the coaches radio shows and network coverage of baseball and women’s basketball.  After his time at K-State, he became the “Voice of the Chiefs”.  Holthus is the longest tenured play-by-play announcer in Chiefs history.

“Voice of the Wildcats” from 1984-96 while earning Kansas Sportscaster of the Year honors in 1987, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994 from the National Association of Sportswriters and Sportscasters… Youngest broadcaster to receive every major sportscasting award in the state of Kansas… Currently in his 20th season as play-by-play analyst for the Kansas City Chiefs… Also broadcasts college basketball games on ESPN.
