Nicole Ohlde was one of the greatest women’s college basketball players in the country and in K-State Athletics history during her tenure at K-State. She still holds several places in the record books with 2,241 points, 995 rebounds, 204 career blocks, and 39 career double-doubles in addition to several other statistical categories. The Wildcats made three NCAA Tournament appearances during her four years in Manhattan including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2002.
Her accolades extended off the court to include the Collegiate Basketball Award of Excellence, the Senior CLASS Award finalist as well as a three-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection (’02-’04).
Ohlde’s No. 3 jersey was retired on March 2, 2004, and she was drafted No. 6 overall by the Minnesota Lynx in the 2004 WNBA draft. She played seven seasons in the WNBA winning a championship with the Phoenix Mercury in 2009. She was inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in 2013.
