Manhattan, Kan. - Fans in the Manhattan area can see a re-broadcast of Kansas State's thrilling 3-0 win over 19th-ranked Missouri on Thursday evening beginning at 6:30 p.m. on channel 8, the K-State athletic department and Cox Communications announced earlier today.
The match, which was broadcast on a tape-delayed basis by Metro Sports, can also be viewed on that network on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Friday at 12 p.m. in the Kansas City area. Ben Boyle and Patti Phillips called the match for Metro Sports.
Kansas State ran its winning streak to a season-high six matches with the victory, as the Wildcats outlasted the Tigers, 31-29, 30-27, 39-37, before 889 fans at Ahearn Field House. The two teams combined for 31 ties in the first two games alone, with a meager four points being the largest lead by either team in the span. In the record-setting third game, the two teams battled through 11 ties and eight lead changes in the Wildcats' 39-37 win. Kansas State had 10 match points in the game and Missouri had four game points. The 76 combined points accounted for the longest game in either schools' histories.
With the win, K-State improved to 12-6 on the season and 8-2 in Big 12 Conference play. The 8-2 mark, which represents the second-best start in league play in school history, ties the Wildcats for second-place in the conference standings with Texas (17-3, 8-2 Big 12).
Kansas State returns to Big 12 Conference play this weekend, as the Wildcats travel to Boulder, Colo., to face Colorado (11-9, 5-5 Big 12) beginning at 8 p.m. CST. K-State won the first meeting this year, 3-1, in Manhattan, Kan. on Oct. 12.
