MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State Athletics and head coach Jason Mansfield have agreed to terms on a contract extension that will run through the 2030 season, Athletics Director Gene Taylor announced today.
"Coach Mansfield has done a tremendous job establishing a nationally recognized program here at K-State that is built on culture and hard work," Taylor said. "He and his staff have created unbelievable excitement surrounding our program, as evidenced by the consistent sellout crowds at Morgan Family Arena, as well as produced a team that is regularly advancing to the postseason. The Mansfield's are a great fit for the K-State and Manhattan communities, and we look forward to more exciting seasons ahead in volleyball."
Mansfield, who guided the Wildcats back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2021, has continued to elevate the program as a national contender in his three seasons at the helm. He is fourth coach in program history to reach postseason play in their first three seasons with the Wildcats.
Named K-State's ninth head volleyball coach on December 27, 2022, Mansfield has led the Wildcats to three consecutive winning seasons and compiled an overall record of 44-38 (.537), including a 28-26 mark in Big 12 play.
"I want to sincerely thank Gene Taylor and Jill Shields for the trust they've shown in me with this new contract," Mansfield said. "Kansas State is exactly where I want to be, and I am fully committed to continuing to build this program the right way by recruiting young women of high character, a genuine love for the game, and a passion for competing together. My family truly loves Manhattan, and that means everything to me."
In his first season at the helm of the program, the Wildcats achieved a record-breaking five Top 25 wins and posted the program's first 16-win campaign since 2016. The 2023 season was highlighted by a historic victory over No. 3 Texas, the eventual national champion, handing the Longhorns their lone Big 12 loss in their final season in the conference.
Last season, Mansfield directed K-State to an 18-10 finish – the most wins in the Mansfield era – that included a 10-8 record in the nation's top-ranked conference by RPI. The Wildcats matched a program record, originally set by Mansfield's 2023 squad, with five top-25 wins, highlighted by a five-set victory over in-state rival No. 14 Kansas in Lawrence. The win snapped an eight-match losing streak against the Jayhawks.
During his time in Manhattan, Mansfield has overseen nine All-Big 12 selections, six All-Region honorees, two All-Americans, one Big 12 All-Rookie Team selection, and the 2025 AVCA Region Player of the Year in Shaylee Myers. In the classroom, his teams have earned 12 Academic All-Big 12 honors, eight Academic All-District selections, and produced the 2023 Big 12 Scholar Athlete of the Year, Mackenzie Morris.
Overall, K-State has totaled 11 wins against top-25 teams in the Mansfield era, with three of those wins coming against the nation's top 10, while seven have come in sweep fashion.
For the 2026 season, K-State is set to return seven letterwinners, including three that appeared in over 90 sets last season. The Wildcats will also welcome transfers Fuka Sekita and Camdyn Stuck and freshmen Skylar Brady, Ellah Derrer, Addison Massey, and Reese Resmer.
