Track Wins Seven Event Titles at UTEP Invite

Eveland won her second straight pole vault title in the 2006 outdoor season with a clearance of 13-11.25. The height is a new season-best for the
Haedt finished second to her teammate by tying her personal career-best with a height of 12-05.50. The product of
Event winners on Saturday were junior Candice Mills in the 200-meter dash, sophomore Morgan Bonds in the 800-meter run, senior Christina Lara in the 3,000-meter run, sophomore Marianne Schlachter in the triple jump, senior Obi Ikwuakor in the shot put and sophomore Bryce Bergman in the men’s pole vault.
Mills won the women’s 200 with a clocking of 24.15. It is the second time the native of
Bonds captured her second straight 800 title with a time of 2:12.66. The
Lara won the 3,000 with a clocking of 10:40.70. The Cathedral City, Calif., native finished 13 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor, Phanice Orora of UTEP (10:53.34).
Schlachter won her second straight triple jump title with a wind-aided mark of 43-11.25 (w 4.7). The distance for the product of
Ikwuakor snagged her first collegiate shot put title with a distance of 44-03.50. The distance for the
Bergman won his first collegiate pole vault title with a height of 16-00.75. The native of
K-State will send small groups of student-athletes to the Texas Relays (April 6-8) and the Emporia Relays (April 8).
