
MANHATTAN, Kan. The schedule of matches for the 2006 Varney’s Kansas State Invitational and the Wildcats’ home debut has been adjusted to accommodate all Wildcat fans.
The Wildcats will open the tournament and make their 2006 Ahearn Field House debut at 12 p.m. against Lipscomb on Friday, Sept. 1. The schedule will continue with Montana State playing Lipscomb at 5 p.m.
K-State will return to Terina Irsik Memorial Court at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, when the Wildcats host the Shockers of Wichita State. It is “Purple Haze Night” in Ahearn Field House as all K-State fans are encouraged to wear purple against its non-conference in-state rival.
The final day of matches on Saturday begin at 10 a.m. with Lipscomb against Wichita State. The Wildcats play their final match of the invitational at 1 p.m. against Montana State. The final match of the day is slated for 6 p.m. between Montana State and Wichita State.
Kansas State returns nine letterwinners from its 2005 campaign in which the program made its 10th straight NCAA Tournament appearance. K-State will open the 2006 at the Fresno State Invitational on Aug. 25-27.
