Gipson's Record Night Moves Cats to 10-0

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Marlies Gipson became the school's all-time block leader and surpassed 1,000 points for her career as No. 18 Kansas State moved to a perfect 10-0 on the season after its 58-43 win over Indiana State on Saturday.
Gipson became the 34th player in school history to reach 1,000 points in a career after her 15 on Saturday. She also collected six blocks to set a new K-State record and now has 209 for her career.
The Wildcats (10-0) shook off a rusty first half in which it shot 38-percent but they did maintain a 24-22 lead over the Sycamores (3-7) at the break. Down by as many as seven points in the first half at 17-10, a Shalee Lehning layup jump-started a 14-5 Kansas State run to close out the half.
In the second half, Kansas State used a 13-0 run five minutes into the period to take control of the contest. K-State shot 62-percent from the floor in the second half while holding Indiana State to just 22-percent.
Lehning added 14 points for the Wildcats, while Leah Phillips led the Sycamores with 12.
The Wildcats return to action December 28 when they visit Washington State for a 3 p.m. CT matchup in Pullman, Wash.
