K-State Ready for Spring After Georgia Invite

Freshmen Mariya Slupska and Nina Sertic each captured singles wins on Sunday. Slupska ended a three-match slide by defeating Annabelle Bares of
Sertic, a January addition to the roster, registered her first career win at Kansas State with a three-set decision over Mirte De Bakker of Troy, 1-6, 7-6 (5), 6-1.
Picking up the third singles win was junior Natasha Vieira. The product of
Vieira was also a member of the victorious doubles team this weekend, as she teamed with freshman Petra Chuda. The duo defeated Whitney Byrd and Julia Verdy of Auburn-Montgomery, 8-3. The tandem now holds a 6-4 record together.
K-State will open the 2009 season at home against Drake on Jan. 31. The Wildcats will host the Bulldogs at Cottonwood Racquet Club at 11 a.m.
