Second Half Surge Pushes Cats

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) - Ashley Sweat scored 18 points and 14th-ranked Kansas State fought back from only its second half-time deficit of the season to beat Nebraska 51-40 on Tuesday night.
Shalin Spani came off the bench to add nine points, all on 3-pointers in a crucial second-half run, for Kansas State (18-1 overall, 5-1 Big 12 Conference).
Cory Montgomery led the Huskers (10-9, 1-5 Big 12) with a game-high 21 points.
Nebraska dominated the first half, briefly yielding the lead to Kansas State before Montgomery scored all of the Huskers' points in a 9-2 run on the way to a 23-21 halftime lead.
But after Montgomery scored two points to open the second half, the Wildcats went on a 24-6 run to go ahead 45-31.
Kansas State led by double digits the rest of the way.
The Huskers got only seven points from their bench, while Kansas State got 14.
