Chumak Wins K-State Debut

Chumak, a native of Odessa, Ukraine, tallied a 6-4, 6-4 win over Rone van Wyk of Arkansas State in her first career singles match as a Wildcat. Chumak advances to the quarterfinals of Flight A on Saturday.
In Flight B, senior Natasha Vieira fought hard but came up on the short end of a 6-3, 8-6 decision to Leyla Simmons of Oklahoma.
After a first round loss in doubles action, the K-State duo of junior Antea Huljev and sophomore Nina Sertic defeated Alexandra Cristello and Leyla Simmons, 8-3. Dating back to last season, the combination of Huljev and Sertic is now 3-7 together.
K-State will continue action at the WSU Fall Classic on Saturday.
