MANHATTAN,
Kan. – After a career weekend in which she was named Arkansas
Invitational MVP, the Big 12 named Bryna
Vogel as its Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
The junior right-side hitter
earns her first career weekly honor after a career-best 21 kills on an astonishing
.704 attacking percentage (2 errors, 27 total attempts) in a four-set win over
Southern Miss. No player in K-State history has recorded as many kills at a
higher efficiency than Vogel did Saturday.
“It’s truly an honor,” Vogel said
of receiving the award. “Volleyball is a team sport, and I think it’s just a
reflection on how well the team is playing right now.”
The Clearwater, Kansas, native
previously set her career high with 18 kills in a four-set win over Creighton
Tuesday before eclipsing that mark with her 21-kill output Saturday.
For the week, Vogel averaged 3.80
kills per set with a .444 (57k-9e-108ta) in helping the Wildcats go a perfect
4-0, extending their winning streak to nine matches.
Vogel is the first Wildcat to
earn Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honors since Katie Reininger claimed
the award on Oct. 13, 2014. She earns
the 13th offensive weekly award and 35th overall for
K-State since 2007.
