
K-State Tennis’ Recruiting Class Ranked No. 14

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State women’s tennis recruiting class for the 2017-18 season has been ranked 14th-best in the nation, according to the Tennis Recruiting Network.
K-State’s commits are highlighted by Margot Decker (France) and Maria Linares (Venezuela), both of whom come to K-State highly decorated and experienced.
Decker achieved a world ranking of No. 822 by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) while Linares is the top-ranked junior in Venezuela. The duo join West Virginia-transfer Carolina Lewis, who was the No. 1 player in the state of South Carolina coming out of high school.
The Wildcats’ No. 14 ranking, which was voted on by a panel of experts, was the highest among Big 12 schools as the Cats accumulated 254 points. The Tennis Recruiting Network ranked Georgia as the nation’s best, with the Bulldogs receiving 538 points in the poll.
K-State (12-15, 2-7 Big 12) recently concluded its 2016-17 campaign, reaching the quarterfinal round of the Big 12 Championship for the fifth straight season.
