Sep 12, 2017 | Men's Golf
The Kansas State men's golf team made another improvement during the final round of the Badger Invitational on Tuesday, finishing in eighth place at University Ridge Golf Course.
The Wildcats, who carded a 4-under par 284 during the third round, finished with a 54-hole score of 10-over par 874. It was their second-straight day with an improved score as K-State was 18 shots better on Tuesday as opposed to Sunday's opening round.
"It was a solid round today. The conditions were perfect for scoring and the guys gave themselves a lot of birdie opportunities," head coach Grant Robbins said. "Overall, I was pleased to see how well they responded from such a poor start on Sunday.
"We are still pretty young, but we are very talented," Robbins continued. "We just have to learn from each round and keep improving."
Sophomore Jacob Eklund led the Wildcats as he tied for 15th at 2-under par 214 after another under-par round of 69 on Tuesday. Eklund's final-round score was aided by a pair of eagles and three birdies.
Redshirt freshman Matthieu Caron posted an even-par 216 to tie for 25th. Jeremy Gandon made four birdies on Tuesday during his 1-pover par 73 round. He tied for 38th at 6-over par 222.
Ben Fernandez had a solid final round on Tuesday with a 1-under par 71. He carded a three-round score of 8-over par 224 to tie for 54th.

Competing as an individual, JC Campbell climbed the leaderboard on Tuesday with three birdies, as he tied for 38th at 6-over par 222.
Texas A&M maintained its lead and won the event at 25-under par 839. The Aggies were led by individual winner Chandler Phillips, who shot 12-under par 204.
