K-State Wraps Up Homestand with Midweek Set

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State concludes a 13-game homestand as Austin Peay travels to Tointon Family Stadium for a two-game set beginning Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Game 2 of the midweek set between K-State (11-8) and Austin Peay (13-7) is scheduled for Wednesday at noon. The two-game series marks the final games before the Wildcats begin their Big 12 schedule at TCU beginning Friday.
The midweek series will be streamed live on the ESPN app and WatchESPN with live audio also streaming at k-statesports.com. Fans in the Manhattan area can also listen to action on KMAN (93.3 FM, 1350 AM).

Kansas State dropped its first weekend series as the College of Charleston took the first two games of the three-game set at Tointon Family Stadium ... The Cougars' pitching staff shut out the Wildcat offense Friday and Saturday before K-State broke through with four runs in the first inning Sunday to salvage the series finale ... Justin Heskett added a quality start and TK McWhertor matched his season high with four RBI in the Cats' 7-3 victory in Game 3 ... The Sunday victory snapped K-State's three-game losing streak, who was 10-2 in its last 12 games entering the week ... Sophomore Will Brennan pushed his on-base streak to 42 games, going back to last season, and owns the nation's longest active streak.

Austin Peay (13.7, 5-1 OVC) is coming off a three-game sweep of conference foe Murray State at home over the weekend ... The Governors have won their first two conference series for a 5-1 mark in the Ohio Valley Conference ... APSU put up 37 total runs in the series, including a season-high 19 runs in the finale against the Racers ... Headed into the weekend, the Govs had been shut out in back-to-back games ... K-State sophomore reliever Jared Marolf has been the Cats' most-reliable option out of the bullpen ... Marolf picked up his second save of the season Sunday, going 2 2/3 innings and allowing just one hit to preserve the 7-3 win ... This season, the righty reliever set a career high with seven strikeouts at Coastal Carolina and earned a win with 5 2/3 innings of relief against Mercer ... In six outings, he has kept the opponents scoreless four times and has collected 13 strikeouts and issued just two walks.
