K-State Volleyball to Co-Host Spring Tournament at UMKC

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State volleyball continues its spring competition schedule on Saturday, as it and UMKC will co-host a 10-team spring tournament at the Swinney Recreation Center in Kansas City.
With competition beginning at 10 a.m., K-State will be one of 10 teams in action across four courts. The Wildcats will be split into two teams (Purple and White) and compete against Creighton, Kansas, Missouri, Northern Iowa, Saint Louis and Wichita State.
Other teams participating in the event include Oklahoma, Rockhurst and UMKC. Matches will consist of two sets to 25 points and fans can attend the event free of charge.
The Cats will bring a roster of 19 athletes, featuring seven who will be entering their senior seasons at K-State, including middle blockers Macy Flowers and Zsofia Gyimes along with outside hitters Alyssa Schultejans and Kylee Zumach.
A pair of freshmen, Abigail Archibong and Gloria Mutiri, will also be competing after joining the K-State program in the spring semester.
The Cats retain 13 letterwinners from a year ago and enter 2018 with their leaders in kills (Zumach), assists (Sarah Dixon and Brooke Smith), aces (Zumach), digs (Reilly Killeen) and blocks (Flowers and Peyton Williams).
Following Saturday's action, K-State will have one more opportunity to play in the spring, as it will match up with Minnesota on Saturday, April 21 at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.
