MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State rowing team was well represented on the Big 12 All-Academic team for their academic excellence, as 28 Wildcats were selected to the Big 12 All-Academic Team, as announced by the conference office on Thursday.

In total, 24 Wildcats were selected to the All-Big 12 first team including Samantha Bendrick (Masters of Curriculum and Instruction), Aubrey Gilchrist (Biology) and Grace Reilly (Biochemistry) who were selected to the first team with a 4.0 GPA. In addition, four Wildcats were selected to the Academic All-Big 12 second team.

Of the 28 selections, three individuals, including Bendrick and seniors Marissa Butrum and Laura Clement made their third appearance on the Academic All-Big 12 team, while 16 individuals made their second appearance and nine made their debut.

The 2018 Academic All-Big 12 Rowing Team honored 175 student-athletes in total, including 101 members from Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Texas and West Virginia, while the remaining 74 are from the league's affiliate members in the sport – Alabama, Old Dominion, and Tennessee.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests.
