Twelve Members of K-State Rowing Earn CRCA Honors

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State Rowing team earned numerous awards from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) on Tuesday, as redshirt junior Kennedy Felice and redshirt sophomore Mattie Warner earned Division I All-Conference honors, while 11 individuals were named CRCA National Scholar-Athletes for the 2017-18 racing season.

The Wildcats had the third most All-Conference team selections among Big 12 schools, as Felice and Warner wrapped up an impressive season on the water for the Wildcats. Felice and Warner earned Big 12 First Team All-Conference honors for their performances at the Big 12 Championships in Oak Ridge, Tennessee on May 13, where they helped the 1v8 to a fourth-place finish.

In addition to their finish at the Big 12 Championships, Felice and Warner each earned a bronze medal at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships (SIRA's) earlier this season. Felice was later elected by the team as one of the two Co-Captains heading into the 2018-19 season.

The Wildcats also earned 11 CRCA National Scholar-Athlete honors for their hard work and dedication in the classroom. Among the honorees are, Samantha Bendrick, Mikaela Bennett, Marissa Butrum, Kaylin Edwards, Taylor Flowers, Elaina Grantham, Rachel Haskell, Molly Ross, Madison Rebel, Grace Reilly and Felice.

CRCA National Scholar-Athletes must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better throughout their academic career and must have raced in at least 75 percent of the institution's scheduled races. Only student-athletes in the second, third or fourth year of eligibility meet the qualifications for the recognition.

The Wildcats concluded their 2017-18 racing season with a third-place team finish at the Big 12 Championships. The campaign was highlighted by a series of great races for the Wildcats, including a team victory in the Sunflower Showdown and a strong showing at the Hornet Invitational.

The CRCA was established in 1997 and promotes the sport of women's rowing as a collegiate sport. For more information on the CRCA and a full list of awards, click here.
