K-State’s Entz Named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week

Oct 15, 2019 | Soccer

MANHATTAN, Kansas – For the first time in program history, a K-State soccer student-athlete has earned the Big 12 Conference's top weekly offensive honor as Brookelynn Entz has been named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week for her performance last week.

This was the second career Big 12 weekly honor for Entz, as she was named Big 12 Freshman of the Week in 2017.

Entz was responsible for both of K-State's goals in a 2-1 win over Iowa State. The effort helped end the second-longest conference match losing streak in league history and secure the first home Big 12 win in program history.

Entz, who led the Big 12 in goals and points last week, scored her first goal in the run of play in the 51st minute, gathering a pass from Maddie Souder and fired her shot from 23 yards out in the middle of the field.

She sent home the game-winning goal in the 64th minute, as she converted her second penalty kick in the last three matches.

She finished the night playing 87 minutes, which was a season-high for a match decided in regulation for the Newton, Kansas, product. She led all players with a match-high six total shots and tallied more shots on goal than Iowa State carded as a team, 4-3.

With her two goals on Friday night, Entz tied her own school record for goals in a match and set the school mark for goals in a Big 12 match.

This season, Entz has registered three goals and ranks third on the team in goals scored. She paces the Wildcats in total points with 10. She reset the school record for points in a Big 12 match with four.

Entz is the first player in program history to score 10 or more career goals and holds the school record for career goals scored with 10. The native of Newton, Kansas, holds the school record for career points with 27. This was the third career game-winning goal for Entz and her first this season.

K-State will stay in the Sunflower State for its next match, as the Wildcats travel to Lawrence to face Kansas on Friday, October 18, at 7 p.m. Friday's match will be broadcast on Big 12 Now on ESPN+ and available on 101.5 KROCK in Manhattan and for free on kstatesports.com.
