AUSTIN, Texas – No.1 Texas extended its winning streak to 13 matches, defeating K-State in straight sets Wednesday night at Gregory Gym, 18-25, 16-25, 17-25.

The Longhorns (18-2, 12-0 Big 12), who have now won 22 consecutive Big 23 matches, used 11.0 total team blocks to limit K-State (8-16, 3-9 Big 12) to a .118 hitting percentage. Offensively, Texas hit .346 with four players hitting above .300.

"I thought we maintained some composure," head coach Suzie Fritz said after the match. "We weren't playing particularly well but we continue to talk about trying to stabilize in serve-receive. Passing is a complicated skill. It's not a skill that necessarily requires effort, it's a lot more about touch and technique. At this point, we are trying to develop those things so we can handle the ball a little bit better. We are trying to learn as much as we can as fast as we can to try and put ourselves in a better position the next time."

Brynn Carlson led the Wildcats with nine kills and hit .240. Freshman Anna Dixon added seven kills with middle blocker Peyton Williams finishing with four.

Defensively, freshman libero Loren Hinkle registered a match-high and career-best 18 digs and Williams led the team with four blocks.

Texas, the nation's leader in hitting percentage, was led by Micaya White who collected 14 kills (.333) while Molly Phillips put down 10 kills at a .500 clip. Skylar Fields and Logan Eggleston each hit at a .368 efficiency.

Phillips also contributed five blocks along with Brionne Butler and Eggleston who each added five.

Texas' offense hit .452 while its defense picked up six blocks in holding the Wildcats to a .133 efficiency. The Cats forced a UT timeout after climbing within two points at 19-17, only to see the Longhorns close on a 6-1 run. Carlson accounted for five of K-State's 10 kills in the set, hitting .364. Phillips paced the Longhorns with six kills on nine swings.

The Cats were limited to a .100 efficiency on 10 kills in the second. Texas collected 13 kills at a .303 clip and used an eight-point scoring run to break a 7-7 tie. Following the run, the closest the Cats would get was six points as the Longhorns finished on a 5-2 spurt. Dixon totaled three kills in the set while Carlson added two.

K-State fought off three match points, but the Longhorns led throughout the final frame. UT led by as many as 11 points and opened the set on a 6-0 run on its way to creating a 21-10 edge. Three more team blocks aided Texas in holding K-State to a .125 efficiency. Dixon had a team-best three kills in the set.

The Longhorns held a 45-29 edge in total kills and a 7-2 advantage in service aces.
