MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State men's and women's cross country teams earned USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition for the fall semester, the organization announced on Thursday, with the women's team posting a 3.65 cumulative GPA.
"I am really proud of the women's cross country team," Head Cross Country Coach Ryun Godfrey said. "They are dedicated to do their best in the classroom."
This marks the 12th consecutive year the K-State women have earned the recognition, dating back to 2007. In addition, the K-State women's 3.65 GPA ranks second among Big 12 schools.
The K-State men's team averaged a 3.09 GPA during the fall semester, which ranks seventh amongst Big 12 schools, while marking the fifth-consecutive year the team has earned the All-Academic recognition.
Highlighting the academic performances for the Wildcats, seven individuals posted perfect 4.0 GPA's during the fall semester, including Alex Ferguson, Cayli Hume, Kassidy Johnson, Anna Keeley, Cara Melgares, David Lutgen and Ethan Powell.
Criteria for All-Academic team requires that at least five runners compete at an NCAA Division I Regional Cross Country meet, while also maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale during the most recent semester.
The K-State men's and women's cross country teams concluded their season at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Peoria, Illinois on November 9, 2018, where the K-State men finished 17th and the women finished 18th.
