
K-State Kicks Off Homestand with SMU, Cincinnati and UMKC

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State begins a six-match homestand Thursday against SMU at 12 p.m., as the Mustangs, Cincinnati and UMKC all visit Body First Tennis Center this week.
The Wildcats (5-2) are coming off an undefeated week after a sweep if Arizona this past Saturday after a comeback victory over the North Texas Mean Green on Friday afternoon, 4-3.
Big 12 Player of the Week Karine-Marion Job extended her singles record to 5-1 this past weekend, picking up two wins in both singles and doubles. When paired with junior Ines Mesquita, they have a record of 2-1. Sophomores Margot Decker and Anna Turco follow suit with singles records of 4-3, 4-2, respectively, and are 4-3 in doubles.
The team improved its overall singles records to 21-14 to go with a 9-9 doubles mark. K-State enters Thursday's matchup against SMU on a two-match winning streak while the Mustangs are on a four-match winning streak and are coming off back-to-back sweeps of Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Tulane.
In singles, SMU is led by Vivienne Kulick with a 4-1 spring record and Anzhelika Shapovalova who is 6-1. The duo of Tiffany Holleback and Karina Traxler lead the team in doubles with a record pf 6-0 in dual matches.
As a team, SMU is 24-14 in singles and 13-4 in doubles in the spring season. K-State is 3-1 against SMU all-time and 1-0 at home.
On Saturday, K-State will host a doubleheader with the Cincinnati Bearcats (12 p.m.) and the UMKC Kangaroos (5 p.m.).
Cincinnati defeated Miami University, 5-2, extending its win streak to four matches. Maria Santilli is undefeated in singles with a record of 7-0, while Emma Miceli is 6-1. In doubles, Alexia Coutino and Antonella Bramato are also undefeated at a 7-0 mark.
Cincinnati is 29-13 in singles and 16-4 in doubles as a team. The Wildcats are playing their first-ever match against the Bearcats this weekend.
The Kangaroos were just swept by Arkansas State, 4-0, and have lost their last two matches. As a team, UMKC is 19-33 in singles and 10-19 in doubles. Yana Grechkina is the team leader with a 5-4 singles record, while the doubles teams of Grace Ball and Thea Dassy along with Katie Fries and Thanushree Vale lead doubles, 2-4.
K-State is 5-0 against UMKC and 3-0 at home.
