Wildcats to Compete in Arizona after Two-Week Layoff
Mar 14, 2019 | Women's Golf
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State women's golf team will be back in action Friday through Sunday as they compete in the Notre Dame Clover Cup held at the par-72, 6,184-yard Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona.
The three-day tournament consists of 18 holes being played each day with a 8:00 a.m. (MT) start for all three days.
The Wildcats will be led into the event by sophomore Ella Adams, who paces the squad with a 73.31 stroke average. The Adelaide, Australia, native is also atop the team with two top-20 finishes and one top-10 finish.
Joining Adams in the lineup will be senior Chloe Weir, freshman Briony Bayles, and sophomores Niamh McSherry and Reid Isaac. Sophomore Darby Deans will also be competing in the event as an individual.
"As always, I look forward to watching the team compete this weekend," head coach Kristi Knight said. "The Clover Cup will provide a good challenge. The extra day of play on the course today (Wednesday) will help prepare for the firm and fast greens. This team has held itself back all season. It is time to play freely and with more positive energy."
Joining Kansas State in the field will be tournament host Notre Dame as well as Cincinnati, Florida International, Houston, IUPUI, Kentucky, Mercer, No. 44 Mississippi State, Nebraska, No. 24 Oklahoma, UNC-Greensboro, No. 1 USC, Western Carolina and Wisconsin.
