Wildcats to Compete in Second Annual Bruzzy Challenge

Mar 29, 2019 | Women's Golf

MANHATTAN, Kan.– The Kansas State women's golf team will be back in action this Monday and Tuesday for the second annual Bruzzy Challenge in Argyle, Texas, held at the par-72 6,421-yard Lantana Golf Club.

The two-day tournament, which will serve as the final tune up prior to the Big 12 Championship, will consist of an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start on both days with 36 holes being played on Monday and the final 18 holes conducted on Tuesday.

K-State will be led into the event by sophomore Niamh McSherry, who has been on fire as of late with a top-10 finish and top-20 result in her last two events. The Lurgan, Northern Ireland, native is coming off a career-best performance as she carded a 3-under par 213 in the MountainView Invitational last week.

"We are excited to compete at Lantana," head coach Kristi Knight said. "The Bruzzy is a great opportunity for us and a fun event for the players. I like the improvement we have shown the last two weeks."

Kansas State's lineup will feature McSherry, senior Chloe Weir, sophomores Reid Isaac and Darby Deans, as well as freshman Briony Bayles.

Joining Kansas State in the field will be tournament host North Texas in addition to Baylor, BYU, Houston, Iowa, Maryland, Miami, Missouri, Ole Miss, SMU, No. 19 TCU, No. 2 Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.
