Apr 02, 2019 | Women's Golf
ARGLYE, Texas– Kansas State sophomore women's golfer Reid Isaac kept up her strong play on Tuesday as she carded a 3-over par 75 in the final round to finish fifth in the Bruzzy Challenge at the par-72, 6,421-yard Lantana Golf Club.
Isaac concluded the event at 4-under par 212, which was a career-best performance. She bettered her previous career low 54-hole score of 1-under par 215 in the 2018 Trinity Forest Invitational.
As a team, the Wildcats cooled off during round three as they carded a 24-over par 312 in the final round. K-State concluded the event in a tie for 11thplace at 22-over par 886.
"It was a good tournament for Reid but not a good day for the team," head coach Kristi Knight said. "We did not play well aside from Reid's round. The positive we must take away from this is our strong start. We struggled mightily in round one all season. They know what they are capable of. We have to stay in the present and play the game. Golf is scoring from where you hit it not how well you hit it."
Senior Chloe Weir followed Isaac on the Wildcat leaderboard by carding a 7-over par 223 to tie for 47th. Sophomore Niamh McSherry tied for 53rdat 8-over par 224, while freshman Briony Bayles carded a 12-over par 228 to tie for 64th. Rounding out the scoring lineup was sophomore Darby Deans, who shot a 27-over par 243 to finish in 80thplace.
No. 35 Baylor took home the team title with a 10-under par 854. The Bears edged out 41st-ranked Ole Miss by two strokes. Gurleen Kaur of Baylor and Hailee Cooper of Texas tied in first on the individual leaderboard at 9-under par 207.
The Wildcats will be back in action April 14-16, as they travel to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, to compete in the Big 12 Championship.
