In the men's decathlon competition, senior Simone Fassina closed out a decathlon competition in which he set five personal best throughout the two-day competition, including a personal best decathlon total score of 7,228 points, which tops his previous best of 6,638 set at last year's Big 12 Outdoor Championship.

Fassina had a big day in the javelin throw, where he unleashed a throw of 57.17m/187-06 to set a new personal best and earn 695 points to move him into fourth overall. In the final event of the day, Fassina finished strong with a personal best time of 4:53.51, to finish with 7,228 points.
