Creighton Clinches Series Sunday

OMAHA, Neb. – The Creighton offense turned in 18 hits, including two home runs, to go with five shutout innings from starter Evan Johnson in picking up an 11-1 win over K-State in the series' rubber game Sunday at TD Ameritrade Park.
Creighton (16-7) put across multiple runs in four of the game's first five innings, including a four-run first. The Bluejays' hit total marked a season high, as they tallied six extra-base hits. Will Robertson drove in four, going 2-for-4 with a home run and a double.
CU starting pitcher Evan Johnson surrendered one hit and struck out a career-high eight hitters over his five innings of work. Johnson improved his record to 4-0 in clinching the series over K-State (13-20).
Dylan Phillips, a native of Omaha, drove in the Wildcats' only run with a double in the top of the seventh. Phillips' double was K-State's only base hit to go for extra bases.
Chris Ceballos, Zach Kokoska and Thomas Hughes each singled on the day.
Six different Bluejay hitters recorded multi-hit games, including a four-hit games from Jake Holton. To go with Parker Upton's 3-for-5 day.
The first four Bluejay hitters registered base hits off K-State starter Jaxon Passino. Robertson delivered a two-run double that was followed by an RBI single off the bat of Holton. Jared Wegner added a two-out run-scoring single as Creighton tallied six hits in the inning.
Passino (1-4) took the loss after throwing the first inning in his first career start.
Robertson pushed Creighton's lead to six runs with a two-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the second off Wildcat reliever Luke Bay. It was Robertson's fourth homer of the year.
CU tacked on two more runs in the fourth to push its lead to eight runs. In the inning, Upton hit a solo homer and Jordan Hovey drove in a run with an infield single.
Upton doubled in the following inning to make the score 10-0 after five innings.
Will Brennan and Kasey Ford each tossed three innings of relief for the Wildcats, Brennan struck out a pair and allowed four runs while Ford struck out five in his outing with run earned runs on three hits against him.
Creighton hit .500 (8-for-16) with two outs while also hitting .538 (7-for-13) with runners in scoring position.
The Wildcats went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position and 1-for-12 with men on base.
Four Bluejay relievers combined to allow three hits over the final four innings with one run allowed.
