MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State tennis sophomore Anna Turco was named to the 2019 All-Big 12 Second Team in singles in a vote among the league's head coaches, the conference office announced Wednesday.
The honor marked the first for Turco in her Wildcat career, as she led K-State with 14 singles victories during the spring season. The Mondovi, Italy, native also paced the Cats with five singles wins during Big 12 play.
Turco worked her way to the top of the singles lineup for the first time in her career, as she was slotted in the No. 1 position for the Big 12 Championship. She ended the year by winning six of her last seven singles matches, including a stretch of five straight.
During the spring dual campaign, Turco posted a combined record of 3-1 when playing at the top two spots in the singles lineup and had three separate winning streaks of at least three matches.
In the fall season, Turco finished 6-3 during singles for a combined 20-10 record in her sophomore year – a team high. In two-set matches this season, Turco went 18-3, with a perfect 4-0 mark in Big 12 play.
