
K-State Eases Past Oral Roberts in Final Exhibition

TULSA, Oklahoma – Led by three-point nights from senior Katie Cramer and junior Brookelynn Entz, Kansas State capped its exhibition slate on a hot and muggy night at the Case Soccer Complex on Saturday night with a 4-1 win over Oral Roberts.
Cramer and Entz helped K-State open the scoring in the 17th minute of the first. Cramer intercepted Entz intercepted an Oral Roberts pass and dished to Entz. Entz drove to the net and drew the attention of the lone defender and dished to an open Hannah Davis, who finished with her left foot inside the 18-yard box.
The Wildcats increased their lead to 2-0, in the 26th minute. Freshman Caylee Thornhill blasted a rocket from over 25 yards towards the Oral Roberts net. Oral Roberts goalkeeper Allison Austin made a diving save, but the rebound fell to the feet of Cramer. who tapped the ball into the open frame.
The two-goal advantage was short-lived, as Oral Roberts scored in the 29th minute. The Golden Eagles sent a long ball over the top of the K-State defense. ORU's Samantha See raced to the ball along the right side of the field and sent her shot past K-State's Rachel Harris. Harris would finish the night with five saves.
K-State was the aggressor for much of the second half, finishing with a 13-5 shot advantage. The Wildcats sealed the win in the 87th and 88th minutes of the match.
Entz was fed a ball into the 18-yard box and was tangled up with a Golden Eagle defender. Oral Roberts was whistled for a foul inside the box, awarding Entz a penalty kick. She finished with chance with ease for the 3-1 K-State lead.
A minute later, a turnover from Oral Roberts fell to the feet of junior Maddie Souder. Souder collected possession, took a single dribble and unleashed a curling shot from over 30 yards out that found the upper right corner.
K-State finished the night with a 22-9 advantage in total shots, while corner kicks would be equal at 5 each.
Kansas State will open its fourth season on Friday and Sunday in Omaha, Nebraska. The Wildcats will face Creighton on Friday night at 7 p.m. K-State will conclude the weekend on Sunday at Omaha at 1 p.m. Both matches can be heard on 101.5 KROCK in Manhattan or for free at kstatesports.com.
