Sep 04, 2019 | Cross Country
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State men's and women's cross country teams (September 4) will begin their 2019 season this weekend, as the Wildcats travel to Wichita, Kansas to race in the 71st annual J.K. Gold Classic at Four Mile Creek Resort on Saturday, September 7.
For the 11th season in a row, K-State will travel back to a meet where the men's team pulled off an impressive victory in 2018 with a 25-point outing while the women's squad notched a second place finish with 54 points.
"We are looking forward to opening up the competitive season at the JK Gold Classic," stated head coach Ryun Godfrey. "We will be competing with a partial squad, but nonetheless, we are looking forward to taking the next step. Training has been going well. Our end-goal is being ready for Big 12's and NCAA Regionals, however, the JK Gold provides for a more accurate gauge of our racing fitness at this point."
The Wildcats get started at 8:30 a.m., CT with the start of the University/College men's 6k race, followed by the University/College women's 4k race at 9:00 a.m., CT.
